Plastic surgery
After
you arrive in Phuket you will visit your surgeon for
your first appointment. This appointment is for the
doctor to determine that you are in good health and
prepared for your treatment. Your doctor will also
discuss the details of your treatment with you, and
finally, set the date and time for it. If the treatment
is to be an operative one, your doctor will perform
a blood test, and your blood pressure and pulse will
be taken. If you are over 50 you will also have a heart
stress test, by running on a treadmill. Please inform
your doctor of any allergies or medical conditions
you may have.
You will be asked to sign a consent form allowing
the hospital to perform the required surgery.
Before going in for surgery, here are a few guidelines
for you.
If you have any conditions that requires more specific
details, we will let you know in advance.
- If you will be having a general anesthetic, please
do not eat or drink anything 6 hours
prior to your surgery.
- If you will be having a local anesthetic, please
do not eat anything 6 hours prior to your
surgery. However, you may drink clear fluids, such
as water, tea, or coffee, until 2 hours
prior to the surgery. Alcohol is prohibited.
- Prepare a small overnight bag to take to the hospital.
- Do not take any jewelry except a watch if you so
require.
- Please remove all piercings, even in areas that
will not be treated by the surgery.
- If you are on any medication, please make sure
you bring it with you to the hospital so
that you can continue your course, and present it
to your anesthetist before the surgery.
- If you are wearing contact lenses and having a
general anesthetic, you will be asked to
remove them. It is advised that you bring regular
glasses if you will be having surgery
involving your eyes or the area around them.
On
the day of your surgery, we can arrange with a driver
to pick you up at your hotel to take you to the hospital.
When you arrive you will be taken to your private room.
The nurses will make the final
preparations for the surgery. If you have any questions,
please feel free to ask them.
After the surgery you will be kept under observation
at the hospital for one or two days (except for surgery
under local anaestetia) as a standard procedure.
Your partner or friend may stay with you at the hospital
for as long as you are in the hospital. After this
period you will have a final meeting with your surgeon
where he will give you instructions for your post-surgery
care. Please feel free to ask your surgeon any questions
you may have. A date will be set for a follow-up appointment
with your surgeon.
After this you will be discharged from the hospital
and your driver will take you back to your hotel.
Back home
Once you are back at home, you will be able to contact
your surgeon directly by phone and e-mail. This is
so that you can return home confident that you will
receive all necessary post-surgery care in your home
country.
